I remember after the last election when the draft dodger lost to County Commissioner Fink how he said yes he had lost but now he knows what must be done to defeat Fink next time. At that time I told my spouse to watch for a major smear campaign against Fink. AFSCME can't stand Fink because he doesn't dance to their tune and will do anything to have him removed.
Oh and on another note: Dodge Street thanks for the grins this morning. When you start to put it all together it doesn't paint a very nice picture does it. |

84128 - Wed Jun 2 07:40:06 2010 - [DFD needs to be cut in half for starters] By: Dodge St. |
Just up from the secretary's house. This morning I read that the city of Carlton is losing it's fire Chief due to budgetary concerns.
My recommendation is for the Carlton fire chief to get in touch with the Duluth fire union and get some advice on how to scare the Carlton public into thinking that because they have no fire chief the city will burn down.
DFD can say that if they don't have a fire chief the whole city will burn because of the "geography" of the city and that there are many "natural barriers" in Carlton which means they need a fire chief. In addition they can say that if they have no fire chief they can't "train" every day to become more professional.
Hell, the DFD may give the fire chief a better idea, like starting up an ambulance service even though Cloquet serves that area. Why not, give it a try. Oh thats right, the rouge DFD won't help or assist with any volunteer fire department because they are not "professional" enough and in fact will kick them out of the union if they want to serve their own community as volunteers.
How's that for leadership?
Our fire department needs to be cut in half..Millions can be saved and given back for the needs of our community. |

| Karen, do your homework. He's not the first to not be at Arlington on Memorial day. From the Washington Post: "Obama is not the first president to miss the Arlington ceremony. Ronald Reagan spoke at West Point one year, and went to his California ranch another year. George H.W. Bush, a war veteran, did not go at all. Bill Clinton, who did not serve in Vietnam and had a rocky time with the military, went to Arlington all eight years, and George W. Bush, who also avoided combat service in Vietnam, attended from 2003 onward." |

How much, little Starfire?
STARFIRE: Big Iron, you must have just finished with that honey do list. You have been kind of quiet since I put you in your place. Of course I wasn't including your activities at the fire hall with rusty and the rest of the boys when I said that you haven't knocked off a piece in 10 years. You need to talk with Tony about buying the DCB on behalf of the DFD PAC. It may be just what you gals have been looking for. I only wish I had an interest in it. It seems that the DCB is not only the premier blog site in Duluth, but a lot of DFL clowns like you would also like to silence it so that you can continue giving it to mom and pop. It took the United States 206 years to rack up 1 trillion of debt. It took Barack Obama only 6 months to rack up 1 trillion of debt bringing the total debt to over 13 trillion right now. I would venture that the DCB's value will increase exponentially as DFL Duluth is exposed for what it is. If I had the money of a DFD PACKER, I would invest in DCB. What would Napolean do? |

You had thought he would have said, "Listen guys, it's one of the biggest weekends of the year for our area. The economy sucks! People are cutting back and watching where every penny goes! Tony my ass. What do you want for it, little boy starfire?......What a great day! Jetskis, pontoon boat, fine liquor, scantily clad beautiful women, all on lake Minnetonka of the north. Ahhhhhh, life is good. What did the DCB'rs do today? A 12 pack of Blatz and a kiddie pool in your 25X25 backyard? Too funny.
STARFIRE: Big Iron, based on your la la land "scantily clad beautiful women" explanation of what you have been doing this weekend, I would have to say that the opposite is probably true. For one, the gals must be at leat 13 axe handles across the backside if you are responding within 5 minutes of a post at the DCB on Memorial Day weekend. Even you can't look at them anymore. But of course we all know you are lying anyway. I would guess that you haven't knocked of a piece in about 10 or more years and your old lady has a honey do list for you to do this whole weekend. Guys like you talk big when in reality the old lady leads you around by the nose. Yea, quite the life you have there Big Iron. You can have it. I just wish you and the rubes would quite stealing from mom and pop before you bankrupt the city. |

STARFIRE: DFD Parasite, aka Numbnuts, any more of your DFD humor by way of name calling, and you will go straight into the trash bin. You may call Mayor Ness names as your DFD PAC owns him and the Duluth City Council, but the DCB is not owned by you rubes. BTW, why don't you buy it? Tony may be willing to let it go for a "fair price." Just think what fair might be to a DFDer who thinks $82,000 a year is a "fair" salary to extort from retired folks to grill, blog, pole dance, wash personal pickups, and of course blog at DCB non stop. Buying the DCB would be a lot cheaper for you clowns than the tens of thousands of dollars of mafia money you use to buy politicians who promise to line your pockets even more. |

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!
You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona , who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb. Well.........
Error! Filename not specified.
SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!
Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!
Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.
The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dog s off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.
The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.
The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.
I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.
He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the holidays and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the prison.
Yup, he was re-elected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.
TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO..
HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF
AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER.
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona ) who created the 'Tent City Jail':
**He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.
**He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. **Took away their weights.
**Cut off all but 'G' movies.
**He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.
**Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.
**He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails, so he hooked up the cable TV again.....BUT only let in the Disney channel and the Weather channel..
**When asked why the weather channel, he replied, "So they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs."
**He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.
**When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't The Ritz/Carlton...... If you don't like it, don't come back."
More On The Arizona Sheriff:
With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports:
About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before.
Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS.
"It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the TENTS for 1 year. "It's inhumane."
Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates, "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your mouths!"
Way to go, Sheriff!
Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers' money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.
If you agree, pass this on.

Rusty,
Why all the lies? I've seen 2 police officers in squad cars many times. I don't get how you fire fighters think you compare to police officers. The police have a much more dangerous jobs, put up with a lot of stuff compared to fire fighters who really don't do that much fire fighting. I would rather see the mayor not hire fire fighter instead of police. Duluth is a crime infested city. It's not safe here and the fire fighters are not the answer to making it safer. In fact the fire fighters take money from making Duluth a safer city.

Not all government workers/public servants are 'moochers' I agree. But you seem to be overlooking a very serious problem imbedded in the current system.
Section 1 - the 14th amendment says "No state shall deprive any person of life,
liberty, or property, without due process of law". The 14th amendment was not upheld when it came to the loss of my job.
There was no due process of law used to remove me, the only process the public servants used were harassment, intimidation, bullying, public embarassment and humiliation. And I am not the only one this has happened to.
Yet this doesn't seem to apply among Duluth's select few.
I have a degree and was working for lots more than $10.00 an hour. Certain illegal liberties were taken to remove me from my job and none of them had anything to do with the 14th amendment. It had to do with a corrupt system that involves public servants and participating locals.
There's so much more than meets the eye in this City and I can totally relate to the term used here often to describe it: the mafia. Don't try to fool people saying you have the education blah, blah, blah. What you really have are the 'connections' that keep you in an overpaid postition. The average hard working Joe doesn't stand much of a chance in this City, degree or no degree. |

I know you're too chicken shit to say where you actually work so just give us an idea of what your most important task is at work... that is if you work at all.
MODERATOR: DFD Parasite, you probably should not lump all DCBers into the same group. We are truly a diverse group. I personally do not have a problem with all government employees as you claim, but I do take issue with the most parasitic, those being the DFD and the teacher's union. Both could care less about those they are being paid to work for and instead, do all they can to line their pockets. They are the elite, the millionaire's club if you will. How your blogging on the taxpayer dime is protecting anyone from harm is beyond me. You are possibly protecting yourself as when you are blogging, you cannot fall out of bed. You are no different than a certain parasite that works for District 8 rep James Chernenko. Over $65,000 a year pissed away on this clown and much of the time is spent right here at the DCB. I understand why one would spend so much time at DCB, but I do not believe that the taxpayer should have to pick up the bill. So, in short, hit the stop button on the DVD player and save Backdraft for later tonight. You should know it by heart anway. |

DCB, what happened to your response to the claim our FD blogs at work? You said you saw a computer address from the state of MN and claimed it came from a city computer. Guess you're full of crap as usual.
George Bush, thanks for letting your oil pals break rules so our planet can be wrecked by oil. Bet you made some extra cash on that one...
DCB SUCKS!
MODERATOR: DFD Parasite, yea, $82,000 a year base plus benefits isn't too bad for a city where the average worker earns under $10 an hour. How is this possible that those like you who are just employed and don't work are able to suck so much money from those that do work? Is it extortion? You bet it is. The one thing I know is that you and your DFD PAC parasitic butt buddies may own the Duluth City Council, but you don't own the DCB. How does that make you feel? Seeing the truth hurts, doesn't it. 84085 - Wed May 26 09:31:26 2010 - [From DFD mouths comes only BULLSHIT!] By: Tourv |
Rusty, I realize your a Duluth Firefighter and I want to answer your question.
First off, at EVERY fire alarm your operation sends at least 4 rigs to the location. The operation never changes even though the statistics show that over 96% of your alarms are FALSE. It was suggested, and you know this, that the city purchase a smaller pickup truck which would go on these fire alarms to verify and/or sizeup. If need be the other rigs would be called to the scene if it were an actual fire.
Your Union wanted nothing to do with this suggested change even though it was pointed out that the savings in gasoline alone would be over $116,000 per year. The wear and tear on all the rigs would have extended the life of each almost another 4 years. This savings was calculated at almost 2 million every 6 years or so.
When the city wanted to talk about staffing and made suggested to reduce staff due to call volume during certain times of the 24 hr cycle. Your union wanted nothing to do about it but kept referring to the NFPA manual which was written by firefighters. Go figure. The staffing could be reduced at certain times and even to 8 hr shifts for some. The staffing suggestion would have saved the city almost 2.7 million every 26 months. Your union didn't even want to talk about it.
Another example was to use on-call pay. You would have been paged out if a major incident were to happen thus the city could staff your department at minimum cost but if needed many firefighters called back in. The presented on-call pay was very thought out and was a good wage for being able to sleep at home. The idea behind the on-call pay was not have the taxpayers paying a premium for most staff to sleep at night. In calculations, 63% of your staff was not awaken during the night for any calls. This was examined over a 3 year period. This savings would have been enormous to the taxpayers. Almost 1.7 million in savings per year had this idea been implemented. Your union wanted nothing to do with it.
These are just a few examples that if implemented would have saved money to the tune of almost 5 million annually without compromising public safety. In negotiations Rusty, you've made yourself the enemy. When being asked how can you help reduce costs in the fire operations the response is always, "we can't reduce costs it will compromise public safety". It's all bullshit which comes from your mouths. I have studied your operations and know what should be cut and why. Like I said before, Ness and Montgomery have the balls to do it. And do it they will. |

Allegiant Air will have the largest planes into Duluth. The MD80 is a DC-9 variant. Many of Allegiant's planes were bought from SAS airlines when SAS discontinued DC9 service. |

84071 - Tue May 25 11:47:28 2010 - [Why it is time to vote Oberstar out!!!!!] By: Dave |
As Seen on the DNT Website.
BIZ blog: Oberstar expected to oppose United merger
That proposed merger of United Airlines (serving Duluth with Chicago flights) with Continental Airlines, won't get the needed nod from the feds without some intensive antitrust scrutiny.
Among the biggest critics in what would result in the world's biggest airlines is expected to be our own U.S. representative, Jim Oberstar. The deal goes before the House Subcommittee on Aviation which he heads in a hearing June 16. Oberstar has urged the Justice Department to reject the deal, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The merger, anounced May 3, is expected to get greater scrutiny by Obama Aministration than Delta Air Lines' acquisition of Northwest Airlines did in 2008 under President George W. Bush
Among the anti-trust concerns is whether the resulting mega airlines will have too much power to raise prices and ability to reduce customer service, the Journal said.
Still, the United-Continental marriage is expected to get government approval, though some strings may be attached.
But with the review process taking longer than Delta's six months, the deal may not close by year's end as corporate officials had hoped.
Funny to see how Jimmy is now all for the consumer as NWA-Delta has had a stranglehold in Duluth for how many years now. This is Mr Transportation at work you for. All the many more reasons to vote this idiot out of office in November.

As you can see the city is holding off on hiring due to financial reasons. This will also act as a tool for discussions for the next union contracts.
The city is financially stressed and has been for some time now. When the city delays hiring critical public safety officials, such as the 4 police officers in Duluth, it sends a message loud and clear to all union members. The top priority in any city is the "rule of law" then infrastructure.
Until the entire city organization changes and operations become more efficient, no more hirings, until contract negotiations are over and maybe even not then.
I'm very familiar with two city of Duluth departments which must do things different. The answer,"because that's the way we've always done it" won't work anymore. The fire and planning department must change operational functions to become more streamlined and efficient. I know firsthand the enormous amount of waste which goes on in those 2 departments. Suggested changes several years back was rebuked by the fire union and the mayor didn't have the guts to challenge them. Ness and Montgomery will. |

Talk about a great way to derail someones campaign. Simply have "C" endorse them and thats the end of the his / her campaign. I have to give the republicans credit, the planting of "C" into the local blogs is a brilliant idea. I see the Democrats & League of Women Voters are against voters presenting ID's at the polls.
Why is it liberals are always against anything that has even an ounce of common sense behind it? (God forbid illegal aliens could no longer vote in American elections!)
They claim the "elderly", "young people" and "low income people" will have such a terribly hard and agonizing time getting a photo ID. Really, are you kidding?
"Elderly people" come from the greatest generation that includes just doing what must be done. Almost every elderly person I know has a photo ID. They needed one, they got it!
"Young people". You mean the people who are always on the go somewhere in their parenst cars or their own cars and get drive somehwere to get an ID? The "young people" who will take 10 times more effort to get a FAKE photo ID so they can get into a bar? Those young people?
Then there's the "low income people". You've seen them. The people who can get out and by cigarettes, booze, get to the casino downtown, push shopping carts overflowing with stuff at Super One. But they can't go out and get a photo ID???
Remember back a few Presidentail elections when Native American Winona LaDuke ran with Ralph Nader? Native Americans were bragging, nation wide, about voting for her over and over again on election day. It happened right here in Duluth too. A local Native American, who "wished to remain nameless" bragged he voted 7 times in Duluth by having friends "vouch" for him at 7 diferent polling places!
God forbid we put a stop to that!!
Do you really think the hundreds of thousands of U.S. servicemen and women gave their lives so we could be free, and have the right to vote, had someone voting 7 times in one election in mind?

Reader's view: Veto of domestic partner legislation shameful
By: Jeff Anderson, Duluth News Tribune
On May 15, Gov. Tim Pawlenty vetoed legislation granting end-of-life rights to domestic partners in Minnesota. His veto left same-sex couples in our state without the explicit right to make decisions at the end of their partners’ lives.
The legislation overwhelmingly passed both the Minnesota House and Sen-ate this session. But despite that, Gov. Pawlenty took offense to the potential appearance of the term “domestic partner” in state law.
The death of a loved one is indescribably difficult; no one should be left in the dark, without a say, during such a time. Unfortunately, an untold number of Minnesotans will be, now that the 2010 legislative session has ended and there is no real opportunity for the Legislature to consider overriding the governor’s veto.
This was a shameful action by Gov. Pawlenty and further proof that the next governor of Minnesota needs to be a leader willing to fight for equal rights for all of our citizens.

Third, he's getting taxpayers money!! We taxpayers can demand his behavior be civil and proper and, if not, we can demand his removal!
Fourth, his, I just might take my ball and go home, act is a joke! What is he now, the victim??
Hugh, you need to get a bettter, more mature class of friends.
The Rod Raymond "eternally teenagers" guys he hangs around with are an embarrasing lot! |

84048 - Sat May 22 19:10:48 2010 - [DFL's Cap & Trade will destroy economy] By: mp |
Green energy is being hyped in the USA. It was tried in Spain and pretty much destroyed the country. Unemployment is around 22%. More jobs are destroyed than created in the greeny weeny world. The Universidad Rey Juan Carlos released the "Study of the Effects ofn Employment of Public Aid to Renewable Energy Sources.
www.juandemariana.org/pdf/090327-employment-public-aid-renewable.pdf
7. The study calculates that since 2000 Spain spent €571,138 to create each “green job”, including subsidies of more than €1 million per wind industry job.
8. The study calculates that the programs creating those jobs also resulted in the destruction of nearly 110,500 jobs elsewhere in the economy, or 2.2 jobs destroyed for every “green job” created.
9. Principally, the high cost of electricity affects costs of production and employment levels in metallurgy, non-metallic mining and food processing, beverage and tobacco industries.
10. Each “green” megawatt installed destroys 5.28 jobs on average elsewhere in the economy: 8.99 by photovoltaics, 4.27 by wind energy, 5.05 by mini-hydro.
11. These costs do not appear to be unique to Spain’s approach but instead are largely inherent in schemes to promote renewable energy sources.
12. The total over-cost – the amount paid over the cost that would result from buying the electricity generated by the renewable power plants at the market price - that has been incurred from 2000 to 2008 (adjusting by 4% and calculating its net present value "NPV in 2008), amounts to 7,918.54 million Euros (appx. $10 billion USD)
13. The total subsidy spent and committed (NPV adjusted by 4%) to these three renewable sources amounts to 28,671 million euros ($36 billion USD).
In table 3 we summarize the results achieved in terms of employment, subsidies and investment in the three main renewable industries. Since 2000, the renewable subsidies have created less than 50,200 jobs.
54 This amounts to 0.2% of Spain’s workforce and 0.25% of Spain´s employed workforce. We can see that the average subsidy per worker added in these three sources of renewable energies is more than half a million
Euros (€571,138), ranging from €542,825 per worker added in or by the mini-hydro sector and two-thirds of a million Euros per worker added in or by the photovoltaic sector, to well over €1 million per worker added in or by the wind industry.

Just up from the secretary's house I see a blogger named City Hall has been blogging from DFD Station No. 1.
I stand corrected as 1 of the DFD all snooze team was actually up blogging. Of course this is logical as I stand by the fact that smoke alarms have saved many more lives in the last 20 years than any firefighter or fire department including the almighty DFD.
Pro-DFD your fellow snooze team members must be proud of your potty mouth. Did you write that master piece from DFD Station No. 1 also?
It past your bedtime boys and girls playing fire department and also past the time to downsize the most expensive fire department in the state. |

Starfire,
You are a moron. Before you began typing your drivel in response to my call for an attempt at intelligence ourselves before we berate others, did you bother to read to whom I addressed the comment? It was addressed first to Pro-DFD (your close friend, I know) and then to your little crony. It'd be nice to see people actually have a real, fact-based, intelligent discussion. But, I also have a grip on reality and am well aware that will never happen on trash such as this.
PARROT: City Hall,I will post this for Starfire but am not sure if he is on tonight. |

84042 - Sat May 22 10:42:51 2010 - [DFL Nanny State Knows Best] By: mp |
The nanny state knows best and you must obey. In a lawsuit on intrastate raw milk sales the USA government states:
http://www.ftcldf.org/litigation/ey100426--ds%20mtd%20memo%20in%20support.pdf
"There is no absolute right to consume or feed children any particular food..." page 25
•"Plaintiffs' assertion of a 'fundamental right to their own bodily and physical health, which includes what foods they do and do not choose to consume for themselves and their families' is similarly unavailing because plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to obtain any food they wish."
The interest claimed by plaintiffs could be framed more narrowly as a right to “provid"e them"selves and their families with the foods of their own choice.
Thus, plaintiffs’ claim to a fundamental privacy interest in obtaining “foods of their own choice” for themselves and their families is without merit. page 26
There is No Fundamental Right to Freedom of Contract. - page 27.

84039 - Fri May 21 21:37:33 2010 - [Mel must denounce, renounce, & announce] By: Blogster |
| This message is for Melanie Ford. Melanie (is it OK if I call you Mel?) Mel,I have been following the county attorneys race and have the following suggestion to make. It is not too late to save your candidacy, you still have time to redeem yourself. However you need take action and take action soon. Mel, you need to renounce the support and endorsement you have received from Claire Kirch and Joel Sypress. As has been stated before, the endorsement and support of the above mentioned "agents" is *the kiss of death* to your campaign. Prepare a press statement, go public, hold a press conference. Do whatever you need to do Mel. It is imperative that you distance yourselves from those two subjects. Denounce them now and denounce them often. We all make errors in judgment, I understand Claire can be very overbearing with her activism, I can understand why you were pressured and imposed upon to accept their monies and support. You can save your position as county attorney, you need to denounce, renounce, and announce that you are no longer affiliated with them. Yes you can! |

Reinhart and Huntley.....sad!!!!!!!
More taxes is the name of the game to the DFL. Who cares about those that pay the bills. Squeeze all the dough you can from them all. "Invest" in Minnesota which is of course, raise taxes. DFL does not like to say it the way it is. They think that all the people are as dumb as those who vote for them. "Partner" with the state which translated from DFL code means you pay, DFL spends.
When will it all end? When there is no more money. Cover your back side, the DFL has a target in mind and it might hurt. They want to partner with you and this means they will give and you will receive whether you like it or not. |

It's easy to throw stones when you hear a one-sided story and don't know the truth about what really happened. If you ever have the chance to meet him, introduce yourself and take 2 minutes out of your hateful lives to get to know him before you cast judgement. 84032 - Fri May 21 19:27:26 2010 - [Ford should resign immediately] By: We Are Watching |
| At this point, Melanie Ford is clearly a lame duck. After being exposed as a radical leftist progressive (which became quite clear with Joel S and Claire Kirch initiated their fund raising campaign to reelect Ford). To save herself from further embarrassment and humiliation, Ford should promptly resign and appoint someone more qualified to fulfill her duties until a proper candidate who represents mainstream Duluth / Minnesota / American values can be elected to the position of county attorney. |

Congrats, you are inadvertently playing for the other team.
STARFIRE: City Hall, how do you like using that State of MN internet connection? It must be nice to get paid by the taxpayers and talk smack to them at the same time. What a gig you have there. Claire Kirch also weighed in on the blog. Should have been no more than a token white guy in it, eh Claire? Here's the funny/hypocritical part. The Beast and her husband have stated in the past that 'race' DOESN'T exist. | Pro DFD, kindegarten class begins in a few minutes so cut the na na na na naaa. If you are so confident more people recieve true compassion in your constitutionally corrupt political and economically upside down world of Union-DFL taxpayer exploitation show it by growing up and shutting up! Lots of UAW folks took it on the chin without a whimper as the Union sold or lobbied them into unemployment or lower wages using economically unworkable DFL ways! Perhaps you should try exercising the Godfather Duluth unwritten code of your DFL Mafia, like the DNT silence that Ne$$ abides by. Why not, just like Ne$$, go quietly on enjoying a unaccountability, of which is unfeasible in the dying, supposed to be economic life blood, small business private sector, with benefits of a job that you in your heart and mind know should not and can not be economically sustained at current levels. To bad you and Big Iron lower yourselfs, like the protestors now in Greece, and turn to a childish revenge behavior here when faced with a undeniably immanent REALITY!!!!?????? Just look around yourself, and Duluth neighborhoods, far more than are willing to let on are suffering from trying to be independent as well as the many others are who are here based on DFL grown dependency. This continues to spiral while your PAC buys DFL votes to insure your comfort! You take the last word, show your DFL compassion, cause this isn't your typical DCB argument and I find the infantile arguing hasn't improved my ability to: help generate the only real tax revenue that pays to provide your salary, fix crime growth here, fix streets or sewers, stop Duluth GDC(God Damned Crooks) Mafia from stealing real business growth through selfish and corrupt use of the DFL and DEDA, find a decent job here, afford anything but catastrophic health insurance, keep my home, or after 45 years of 12 plus hour days, forget the dream of the retirement I felt I deserved as much as you feel you deserve your DFD job and it's benefits! |

I agree it's not who you know in DFL Duluth, but who you blow. Read below from today's DNT.
Raymond says he may leave UMD
High-profile personal fitness trainer and local business owner Rod Raymond said Thursday he may leave the University of Minnesota Duluth in the fall to pursue a Ph.D., but he said he’s not being pushed out of the school.
http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/169343/
“Considering this is not the first incident of inappropriate behavior, you need to keep the students safe and get this guy out of here,” said junior Kaitlyn Johnson, 21.
Sabrena Ness, a 21-year-old junior studying criminology and sociology, said she felt Raymond was being protected because of his friendship with the chancellor.
“The reason that nothing has happened is that he’s in a high place around here and because he’s the chancellor’s personal trainer,” she said. “If sexual harassment happened from another teacher, a lot more would have been done.”
Jonaton Mitchell, a junior studying political science, agreed.
“The fact that he’s still here has 100 percent to do with his relationships and that he’s fairly influential in the city of Duluth,” he said.
Martin declined comment for this story through UMD spokeswoman Susan Latto.

I'm up early and getting ready for shift change. And yes, blogging on the taxpayers dime. My union contract allows me to do so.
This blog is a bunch of shit. Big Iron is correct when he says the bashing of Duluth Fire for the last 3 years hasn't change anything. In fact, I know many firefighters who read this blog but don't respond. The truth about us is that we are a strong organization which serves honorably and our UNION doesn't put up with any crap from you neo-cons. I can say since the bashing on this site, our union has become stronger. We realize it's the right-wing whacos who don't like us because we align ourselves with left leaning candidates. Our union believes DFL/Democratic candidates are more passionate for all people and support our department. By doing this they get our endorsement and support. Nothing wrong with that.
A couple of last things before morning shift change. Dodge St. your a complete asshole. You know nothing about our fire department and how professional we are. I challenge you to go to #6 firehall and speak with the two firefighters working. You'll find two people who care about the safety of the citizens in Lakeside and will answer any questions you have.
By the way, our fire department isn't the most expensive in the state. Take a look at Virgina Fire's expense sheet. Virgina residents pay almost twice as much per citizen than Duluth does. Blow that up your ass Dodge St jerk!! |

At least Melanie Ford is not one of the 'good ole boys' and that's a step in the right direction for Duluth!
Should we go forward or return to the previous regimented regime? Special perks for special folks used to be the rule.
STARFIRE: Loving U, If I have to choose between the 'good ole boys' and the kind of fringe people who are and have been backing Ford, I will take the 'good ole boys'. The Sipress/Kirch support of Ford tells most of us all that we need to know. If those two are backing you, and you openly accept their backing and are proud of it, you are just as much part of their leftist Socialist fringe agenda as they are. Anybody but Melanie Ford is the answer. Not to mention that Claire Kirch does not have a good record of picking winners. So far she is 0 for all that she has supported. Not real good news for Ford. |

EVERY Tweed Museum art show or book signing leads to money in the artist's pocket. They are there to do one thing and one thing only...that is to show their wares and sell what they have created. How about every student sending in their resume' for employment via their UMD email? Maybe we should barr professional scouts from any UMD athletic games...it may lead to a big contract for that player! Do you really think that this was an isolated event? It is a witch hunt. Brandon Stahlinski should be ashamed of herself (yes, herself) for even stirring up this old news. Maybe we could do a story on the strippers at DFD breaking their ankles on the firepole at 2am....or is that "old" news? |

Someone needs to start a FACEBOOK GROUP to PROCTECT ALL WOMEN AT UMD FROM SEXUAL HARASSMENT of UMD STAFF.
Boycott Burrito Union and Brewhouse and anything else that Raymond is involved in.

84001 - Wed May 19 21:55:24 2010 - [Death by ASSociation] By: Karma |
| Not only was this Claire the kiss of death for Beth, but also Laurie Johnson. Melanie Ford will be the next victim of ASSociation. But it doesn’t stop there. Look at the failure of the numerous blogs that the compulsive operative has ruined with multiple monikers/handles. The Buzz is her latest victim. Prior vile on PDD was finally dumped when she found another site and PDD with Claire has improved to a great extent. Duluth Solutions out of business. Comments on the Duluth News Tribune were also dropped. Just what if the Duluth News Tribune was intentionally brought down and the offensive comments that caused the DNT to remove comments were intentionally posted by operatives that wanted to limit the voices of opposing view. These neo-socialists don’t play fair and aren’t above stooping to the lowest of strategies. |

Shame on you blatant racists. Quite clearly there is inference that certain people of Chicago Norwegian ancestry are coming to Duluth to commit criminal activities. This cannot be. All of us are "one." Mr. Joel Sipresss, husband of Mrs. Claire Kirch, clearly states that there is no race and you are troglodytes for such backwards ideas.

Police roust man from Lakeside home standoff
Duluth police used a flash-bang grenade and teargas to roust a man out of his house at 2012 51st Ave. E. this afternoon, ending a nearly six-hour standoff in Lakeside.
By: John Myers, Duluth News Tribune
Duluth police used a flash-bang grenade and teargas to roust a man out of his house at 2012 51st Ave. E. this afternoon, ending a nearly six-hour standoff in Lakeside.
The man left his house to escape the teargas and was taken into custody without incident.
Police were called to the scene just after 8 a.m. on reports that a man who has mental health issues had entered his neighbor’s house at 2006 51st Ave. E. with a knife. No one was hurt, and the suspect returned to his home.
When police arrived and attempted to lure the man out of his home, they got no response. The Duluth police tactical response team was called in and the home surrounded. Police used loudspeakers and a “throw phone” in an effort to communicate with the man but still received no response from the man, said Brad Wick, Duluth police public information officer. No one else was in the home during the standoff.
Police used the loud flash-bang device “to get his attention and let him know we meant business” and then used teargas at 2 p.m. to bring the standoff to an end, Wick said. Police had blocked off 51st Avenue East north of Glenwood Street throughout the incident.
The man has a history of minor run-ins with the law, but nothing serious, Wick said.

Contact County Commish Steve O'Neil and point out to him the connection between welfare/assistance and "imported" crime.
Despite 5,000 examples of this, Mr. O'Neil says he "doesn't see a connection". Even though the cops have also said this for the past 20 years!
Maybe with the 5001 example, he'll get it??
I'm not holding my breath! |

83994 - Wed May 19 09:16:45 2010 - ["It's Melanie!!!" ] By: Cold Fish |
On a personal not regarding our County Attorney.
You can tell a lot about a person by observing them when they think they are not in the public eye.
It was said earlier that she flaunts her high IQ. Her attitude truly is, that no matter where she is or who she's with, she's the "smartest one in the room".
Also, for someone obssesed with people of color, the down trodden and the "little people" she can be very dismissive and arrogant. A woman helping her out at some campaign function called her "Mel", her nickname used only by her closest of friends. She stared daggers at the poor woman and snapped "It's Melanie!!!"
Not exactly "Ms. Warmth"! |

Unemployment nearing 10%, Budget deficit nearly triple of the disastrous Bush years, Iran pursuing nukes, more troops sent to Afghanistan, VAT being talked about, Obamacare and its associated costs, Government growing, resentment towards washington politicians. Commander in Chief bowing to foreign dictators, Attorney General calling an Arizona law unconstitutional then admitting he's never read it, A US supreme court nominee who's written only a few opinions, Every candidate Obama and Biden endorsed ends up losing, USA now owning banks, car companies and giving bailouts to anyone who asks, Obama using the bully pulpit to attempt to stymie FOX news and then other news organizations protest him for it, Obama's radical left-wing agenda being rebuked by 78% of Americans polled, and the list goes on and on.
Fucking November can't come soon enough. I'll admit I voted for this "experiment". I'm sorry. |

This blog is a bunch of crap. Claire and Joel and winners. Claire is on the right side of every issue and just because her political endorsee sometimes doesn't get elected doesn't mean she is the kiss of death as you say. Claire has it goin on and knows the issues.
Joel is very passionate on the anti-war issue and never misses an opportunity to express his opinion. However, sometimes he overdoes it when protesting the wars. Most of us didn't want to walk to Bayfront on April 15th to disrupt the tax day tea party but we felt compelled as Joel wanted us to and felt we'd get more press coverage. Joel and Claire are wonderful people and we need more of them. They are and have been an inspiration to many of us over the years.

Chester Creek Watch: The support for Ford by the one and only C thing is great for Rubin. C has a record of sinking all candidates that it endorses. C backed a Carpet Muncher awhile back and wham, the Muncher was done in politics and had to head back for the shag. I heard that C backed RT Rybak and what happened to him? Done. Now C is fully behind Melanie Ford. It looks like lights out for Ford.
C has been the kiss of death to candidates since it has slithered into town. Has C ever picked a winner?
The blogger who suggested that C is a Republican plant might have hit it right on the head. C is more effective at sinking candidates than all the opponents money combined.
Rubin couldn't buy this kind of help. Thanks C!!!!
It is great to be back in the city with the worst streets that I have encountered in the past few months. I'm glad to see that DFL Donny Boy Ness resigned the contract with AFSCME that allows the taxpayers to be kept grabbing their ankles 24/7 all the while he is lining his own pockets and the pockets of his DFL buddies like the Pudknocker!!!!

83985 - Tue May 18 15:29:20 2010 - [Ford's MAJOR PROGRESSIVE agenda ] By: Time for Real Change |
Melanie Ford was an attorney for a big American corporation (Cargill I think?). I believe she served for them in South America or Latin America, she speaks fluent Spanish?
She decided that her company was "exploting" foreign workers and she quit. Her mind set was then, and now, that Americans and especially American corporate types are a bunch of racist, conservative, scum! She's not the type to be flying the flag at her house or holding her hand over her heart during the national anthem, that's for sure.
Her campaign events and campaign meetings were interesting. A lot of bitching about George Bush, what that had to do with St. Louis Cty I don't know, and how she was going to appoint a minority to her County Attorney team as soon as she got in office to, in her words, "Shake up the good old boys in St. Louis County"! A woman with a MAJOR agenda she's constantly pushing by all those around her!
This mind set permeates her every waking minute, an over the top ultra liberal/"progressive"!
That's our County Attorney!

I see Melanie Ford has announced her bid for another term as "County Attorney to People of Color"? Hey Melanie! What about us law abiding, average tax paying constituents? Don't you care about us?? You'd think as the chief law enforcement official in the county, she'd actually like the people in her jurisdiction that actually obey the laws? Nope!
Oh that's right, according to Ms. Ford, and her gang, the problems in St. Louis County are caused by the "non-racially sensitive" law abiding taxpayers, and our law enforcement, that of course, intentionally target minorities. They, "her people of color", couldn't possibly be causing the trouble for themselves??
Ford is touted as having such a superior inteligence to everyone around her, really, just ask her! Think how smart she'd be if she used both halves of her brain!
Go Mark Rubin!!!

83981 - Tue May 18 08:03:56 2010 - [Smoke Alarms Save Many More Lives ] By: Dodge St |
Just up from the secretary's house. Smoke alarms are by far the best defense in saving lives during house fires.
Smoke alarms have saved many more lives in the last 19 years than any firefighter or fire department. The DFD's fleecing has become exposed. The DFD firehall just down the street from me and just up the street from the secretary has responded to 4 emergency calls thus far this month. Waste of money to have two full-time firefighters sitting in lounge chairs watching "Backdraft" for the umteenth time. The most expensive Fire Dept. in the entire USA has to change. We will continue to demand change until the fleecing stops. Just think, 38 firefighters sleeping last night. |

83980 - Mon May 17 22:32:02 2010 - [Smoke alarms a lot cheaper than $82,000] By: Cynic |
Here is the story from DNT. If not for the smoke alarm at that time of night it could have been DFD pulling four bodies from the house.
"Four people escaped a fire in a Duluth Heights home early Friday without injury.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 604 Dale Place at 3:05 a.m., according to a news release from the Duluth Fire Department.
Assistant Fire Chief Jim Ray said Cindy Way, the owner of the house, was awakened by a smoke alarm. She and her adult daughter, her daughter’s boyfriend and a 5-year-old child escaped safely and called 911.
An engine company arrived within three minutes, the news release said, and the fire was contained to an exterior wall. Minnesota Power disconnected electricity to the home.
Initial damage estimates are $15,000 to the structure and another $10,000 to contents.
The Duluth Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. Ray said the fire appeared to be electrical in nature, and arson was not suspected." |

I'm sure the DFD is breathing a sigh of relief knowing that they met YOUR stringent requirements, DAVE. Good thing the response time wasn't 3 minutes and 1 second, eh? Do you think fire fighters are in turnout gear the entire shift?...Obviously. Do you think they sit in the rigs with engines running, just waiting for a call??...You must. The call time doesn't start when the rig leaves the hall...K? When you get that clue, let me know.
STARFIRE: Big Iron, what do you consider "turnout gear", a pink leotard? Of course they are not prepared to go on a call. How could they when they are sleeping, washing their personal vehicles, blogging at DCB, grilling, and many like you who are performing and apparently quite skilled from the talk around town in the area of 1st chair musicians. It doesn't take a masters degree in DFD bullshit to get it Napolean. Even you might get it one day, but I doubt it. |

Here's the main problem/lie that you liberals keep repeating. They are not "Immigrants"! They are "Illegal Aliens"! Breaking U.S. Law!!!!!! They are not "Immigrants"
Mr Duluth, if a criminal breaks into your home at 3:00 a.m. through a basement window, would you consider them a "guest"?? |
